School Donation update

In April 2022, our headline read that Ravenshead and Blidworth Rotary had donated over £1500 in support of our local schools.

This is an update on how two of those schools have used our donations;

Rainworth Lakeview Primary School.

Lakeview Primary School take great pride in the relationship between staff, pupils and parents. Ofsted have complimented the school on their caring approach.

At the time of the inspection one of the school’s initiatives was to provide some tepees in their parkland area. Originally there were two or three tepees all of which were in poor repair and unsafe. We donated £300 to enable purchase of replacements.

"The Sportspower Deluxe Wooden Tepee is the ultimate hideaway! Crafted from sturdy wood, this super cool tepee provides the perfect hiding place for youngsters. It's bound to inspire all kinds of imaginative play, and children will love the built-in window to peek out of!"

With availability and increasing costs, a single Tepee has been purchased along with an additional play area item as seen in the photo below.

We understand the children are already making good use of their new Tepee and climb over house.

Blidworth Oaks and Rainworth Heathlands Primary School.

Year 6 pupils at Blidworth Oaks & Heathlands go to London.

The Blidworth Oaks and Heathlands Collaboration planned an excursion to London which, after some delays and with support from Ravenshead & Blidworth Rotary by using the £500 we donated towards the cost of the coach, finally took place in the first week of November.

The Head, Shaun Walker, said, "we were delighted to be able to take our Year 6 children to London. It was a truly rewarding day for all those involved. We were very proud of their behaviour and their ability to talk knowledgeably about the parliamentary process, having had a chance to watch the Health Secretary live in the House of Commons and the opportunity to question our local MP Mark Spencer. The children showed what exceptional young people they are becoming. Even more engaging highlights included a visit to the cenotaph, Horse Guards Parade, Buckingham Palace and a truly exciting ride on the London Eye. Wow, what a day!"
