Donation to the Beacon Project, Mansfield

Past President Richard Lord presents the cheque to Clair Nielsen on the left, Richard and then Jo Gregg and Simon Cole to the right.

The Beacon Project began in St. John’s Church, Mansfield, when five homeless people came into our church for tea and toast. We now have a dedicated building and serve and care for up to forty people on a regular basis.

They aim to care for the spiritual, physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of all people who come to the Beacon Centre for hel by providing a welcoming and safe place where people can get a hot meal, clean clothes and access to toilet and shower facilities.

They have facilities for washing clothes, offer food parcels and provide clothing and sleeping bags.

A health practitioner also runs a drop-in session once a week and representatives from
Framework and Mansfield council who can offer support with finding accommodation and
applying for benefits are also on hand.

Richard chose the Beacon Project as one of his supported charities for the year and we were pleased to be able to make a donation of £300.
